I have just returned from Crawley where we had our latest player championship events, with a mixed weekend for me. On the Saturday I was given a finishing lesson by Gary Welding in the second round. Sometimes you have to hold your hands up when you lose to the better player, and that was the situation on this occaision. On the Sunday I reached the semi finals with wins over Mareno Michels, Gary Eastwood, Kevin Painter and Co Stompe. This set up a semi final against Simon Whitlock which was a cracking match but unfortunately I went down 4-6. However, in the second leg I registered my first professional 9 darter with scores of: 167, 180 and a 154 checkout. I went the unorthodox way of t20, t20, d17, but they went in so that's all that matters.

We have a free weekend next weekend (11 & 12 September) but I have an exhibition on Friday 10th in Worcester and one on Monday 13th in Ballybrack, Co Dublin, Ireland. We then head over to Holland for the next two player championships on the weekend of September 18th and 19th

Gladbeck Player Champs - March 6th & 7th 2010.

After spending most of the Friday in hospital with my wife, as she had taken ill - I nearly didn't go to Germany for these events. As she was picking up in hospital she persuaded me to go and book another flight (as we had missed the first one) and get the last flight out of Stansted at 8.30pm. I arrived at the hotel in Gladbeck at around 11pm and prepared for the weekend with the following results (Saturday):

Rd 1 - beat Hannes Schnier 6-1, Rd 2 - beat Mark Hylton 6-1, Rd 3 - Beat Peter Wright 6-0, Rd 4 - beat Darren Johnson 6-2, Quarter Final - beat Colin Osborne 6-4, Semi Final - lost Wayne Jones 3-6.

(sunday):

Rd 1 - lost 1-6 Barrie Bates
